USA Expert Plumbing is a free guide for U.S. homeowners dealing with plumbing problems: a water heater that stopped heating, an error code on a tankless unit, a leak you can't find, or a repair quote you're not sure about.

We built it because the answers people need at those moments are often buried in 60-page manuals, scattered across forums, or mixed into sales pages from companies that want to book a service call. We wanted one place that explains the problem plainly, tells you what is safe to check yourself, and is honest about when you need a professional.

Who we are

USA Expert Plumbing is published by USA Expert Plumbing Editorial Team , a small independent web publishing team. We are not a plumbing company. We don't sell plumbing services, take service bookings or get paid by contractors to send you to them.

The site is supported by advertising. Ads never decide what we recommend, and we don't accept payment to change what a guide says.

How we create our guides

Every guide starts with primary sources: manufacturer installation and service manuals, U.S. Department of Energy guidance, and model plumbing codes. Cost guides are based on current national pricing data and explain what drives the price rather than promising a single number.

We use AI tools to help research and draft content. Every guide is then checked by our editors against those sources before it is published, and we correct or update it when manufacturers, codes or prices change. The date at the top of each guide shows when it was last updated.

What we will always tell you

  • Which steps are safe for a homeowner and which are not.
  • When a job involves gas, high-voltage wiring or a permit, and needs a licensed professional.
  • When a repair isn't worth it and replacement makes more sense.

Our guides are for general information. Plumbing codes and permit rules vary by state and city, so check local requirements before starting work.

Found a mistake?
