How this list works. We do not charge companies to appear here and we do not rank them by payment. Each listing comes from public information: the company's own website and the state licensing board. Where a state publishes license records, we look up the license number and show the month we checked it. Before any work starts, confirm the license is current, ask for proof of insurance and get a written estimate. Our editorial policy
Stop the damage first
Close the main water shutoff before you call. For a leaking water heater , close the cold water valve on top and turn off the gas or breaker. If you smell gas, leave the house and call from outside. Our guide to emergency plumber cost explains typical after-hours surcharges.
In Phoenix summers, a failed water heater or a burst supply line in a hot attic can turn serious quickly. Know where your main shutoff is before you need it.
Common questions
Is it cheaper to wait until morning? Usually. If the main shutoff stops the water and nothing is unsafe, a regular-hours visit tends to cost less.
